Intelligently Designing Schools

"Intelligent Design" is a notion put forward to compete with the theory of Evolution. It suggests that the excessive organization of the universe can only be explained by the existence of an intelligent force. There is no way, however, to test this notion. The concept is one step removed from Biblical creationism, which has already been deemed inappropriate for public school science classes.

In a 2005 interview with the editorial board of the Arizona Daily Star, McCain indicates he belies Intelligent Design should be taught in public schools: "I think that there has to be all points of view presented."

Flop

Several years later, he was asked to again give his opinion on the teaching of Intelligent Design in the classroom. He at first answered that intelligent design should be taught in the classroom, but, as several accounts noted, a few pointed questions resulted in a modification of his views on the spot.
